The Office of Emergency Management
The mission of the Office of Emergency Management, a division of Aurora Fire Rescue, is to lead the city of Aurora through any instance of a natural or manmade disaster or emergency through preparedness, response, and recovery efforts. We accomplish this by creating plans and programs that decrease the effects of emergencies or disasters while maintaining an all-hazard approach to planning, community education, and emergency response coordination in the city.
Our office seeks to educate citizens on the importance of proactively preparing and taking care of themselves until responders can arrive at an emergency. We provide information to citizens on how to assist in saving lives, reducing injuries and protecting property. You will have a better chance of surviving and recovering from major disasters if you understand dangers that may exist, make your own preparations and learn what actions you should take at the time of an emergency.
