January 2017 Trail Updates/Impacts
Toll Gate Creek Trail
Extension – north from DeLaney Farm under Chambers/6th/13th Ave to connect with Colfax station and Sand Creek Trail. TIP project, Arapahoe County Open Space provided funding.
Closure - adjacent to Fitzsimons Pkwy closed to accommodate the Aurora Line/I-225 Rail Project. Pedestrian/cyclists should use the sidewalks along Colfax and Peoria.
Trail Improvements – Arapahoe County Open Space funds awarded for improvements (signs, trash receptacles, benches) along Toll Gate Creek Trail.
West Toll Gate Creek Trail remains under construction as part of the trail replacement from Hampden Ave to Iliff Ave. Project includes grading to improve accessibility. Construction funded in part by the Colorado State Trails program.
Metro Center Station to AMC and HLC Trail, under review by CDOT and FHWA, planning to bid in September, construction will likely go into spring.
Piney Creek Trail/E-470 Road Widening Project – The widening of E-470 between Quincy Avenue and Parker Road may impact the Piney Creek Trail. Along with adding an additional lane in each direction, the E-470 Public Highway Authority is constructing an approximate 7.5-mile multi-use trail on the west side of the highway through the length of the project.
