Meet our instructors!

Ali Ghassan

Ali teaching
Born in Iraq, Ali Ghassan Al-Zobaede is a classically trained painter. He was an instructor at Babel University and Al-Koufa University in Iraq. Ali Ghassan’s instructional approach to painting and drawing provides artists of all levels a unique, simple, and logical theory based on the integration of arts with science. His goal is to emphasize the mind-set and methodologies of great artists and to teach students how to approach a painting from start to finish and can be used to paint or draw any subject.

Hope Blakely

Hope Blakely Instructing
Hope Blakely began her painting journey in 2012 when she started following along with Bob Ross through his popular TV show, Bob Ross – The Joy of Painting. Fast forward 5 years and she decided to take her painting passion to the ultimate level, the Bob Ross Company Instructor Certification course, spending 3 weeks in Florida working alongside people with the same enthusiasm and passion for the Ross wet-on-wet painting method. On her return to Colorado, Hope began teaching people how to paint happy clouds and trees and, after receiving her floral certification, how to paint florals using the Bob Ross style. Hope Blakely’s goal is to help everyone experience the relaxing benefits and the joy of painting along with Bob Ross.

Hilliard Moore

Hilliard Moore
Hilliard Moore retired from the telecommunications industry and opened the Great Western Art Gallery in Downtown Denver. As an artist, he specialized in painting Black Cowboys in the old west along with Calvary and pioneers. The paintings were done from actual photographs taken during that time period.  Art shows include the El Pueblo Museum and the Colorado History Society. His painting of Bill Pickett was displayed at the Cheyenne Frontier Days Old West Museum.

Terra Necessary

Instructor Terra Necessary

Terra Necessary is a freelance illustrator, member of Atomic Pixies and educator. They have always worked to pursue art through a pop culture lens, working their art booth diligently at cons while earning a BFA in Drawing from Metro State College of Denver. They have shown and spoken on art and queer pop culture at shows across the US including Denver Pop Culture Con, Anime Expo, Otakon, Planet Comic Con, Drag Con, and more; as well as creating the queer event Dandy Con. With the Atomic Pixies they explore pop culture, science and fantasy through an art nouveau lens, and were recently featured in Westword.

Terra has been a nerd since they were a wee one, raised on Star Trek and X-files. Then Sailor Moon claimed their heart with a Saturday morning commercial in 5th grade and the rest was history. They are a jack of all trades with nerdy subjects, bouncing from astronomy to vintage animation to art history with ease. They adore classic art and art history, and love helping people find their artist joy.
