Industrial Hemp

Industrial hemp is defined as a plant of the genus Cannabis and any part of the plant, whether growing or not, containing a THC concentration of no more than (0.3%) on a dry weight basis.

The Aurora City Council approved an ordinance for the manufacturing of industrial hemp. Applications for manufacturing hemp are being accepted at this time. The city has a moratorium on the cultivation of hemp in effect until Sept. 21, 2020. View the hemp cultivation moratorium ordinance. During this time staff will monitor the Colorado Department of Agriculture's progress in creating a hemp management plan regulating hemp cultivation.
