(Nov. 18, 2024) – The Aurora Police Department Major Crime Homicide Unit is investigating a fatal shooting with two victims that occurred early Sunday morning in west Aurora.
About 2:15 a.m. Sunday, patrol officers responded to a report of a walk-in gunshot wound at a local hospital. Officers spoke with the victim, an 18-year-old woman, who said she was shot while at a gathering at a park in Aurora.
Through the preliminary investigation, detectives learned the victim and several other people were at a house party in south Aurora where there was a fight. Several people then left the party and traveled to Utah Park, 1800 S. Peoria St., where there was a shooting shortly before 2 a.m. that involved multiple people.
When officers arrived at Utah Park, they found two people with apparent gunshot wounds. Both died at the scene. One of the victims is a 20-year-old Aurora man. The other victim is an 18-year-old Aurora man. They will be identified by the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office.
Based on information developed so far, investigators think the shooting was an isolated incident involving numerous known parties. Detectives are actively working to identify the additional suspects involved in the shooting. No arrests have been made and there is no additional suspect information at this time.
The investigation is active and ongoing. Anyone with any information is asked to contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720.913.STOP (7867).
