(Oct. 1, 2024) – An Arapahoe District Court judge signed late Monday afternoon arrest warrants for two more suspects involved in the Aug. 18 shooting near 12th Avenue and Dallas Street, and who appeared in a viral security camera video that garnered international media attention.
The warrants were written and submitted to the courts by Aurora Police Department investigators assigned to Operation Safe Haven, which is tasked with investigating crimes against Aurora’s migrant community. The warrants are now active for Edilson Yoel Pena-Angulo, 25, and Danyeer Aramillo-Meneses, 23, on charges of first-degree burglary and menacing with a firearm, both felonies.
A total of six armed men were featured in the Aug. 18 security camera video knocking on apartment doors about 10 minutes before a fatal shooting in the 1200 block of Dallas Street. All six suspects have been positively identified.
One of those suspects, Naudi Lopez-Fernandez, 21, is in custody. Operation Safe Haven investigators are actively searching for the outstanding suspects with the assistance of local, state and federal law enforcement partners.
Investigators continue to build additional facts about the sixth remaining suspect in anticipation that a warrant for his arrest will be filed in the future. The sixth remaining suspect will be identified once a warrant for his arrest has been signed by a judge and activated in the Colorado State Courts records management system.
At this time, none of the six suspects have been connected to any criminal organization. The information contained in this release will continue to be updated as additional progress is made in the investigation.
