(March 13, 2024) – The Aurora Police Department Traffic Investigation Unit is investigating a fatal crash involving one vehicle and a pedestrian.
About 10:30 a.m., on Wednesday, Aurora patrol officers responded to a report of a crash in the 16000 block of East 7th Drive. The incident happened at a private residence. An adult male was backing his 2012 Toyota RAV4 out of the garage and he stopped in the driveway to pick up an adult woman as a passenger.
The investigation shows that as the woman was getting into the car, the adult male mistook the gas pedal for the brake. He accelerated forward, which subsequently pulled the woman under the car and injured her. The woman was transported to the hospital where she passed away.
Criminal charges are not expected at this time.
The Arapahoe County Coroner's Office will identify the deceased.
This is the 8th fatal crash this year.
