(Dec. 4, 2023) – A young man passed away Sunday night after a single vehicle car crash that sent two other passengers to the hospital.
Approximately 9 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3, 2023, officers responded to a crash at the intersection of East Pinewood Drive and South Wheatlands Parkway in southeast Aurora. Investigations showed that a Mazda SUV was traveling northbound on S. Wheatlands Parkway at a high rate of speed. The vehicle struck the median and rolled several times before coming to rest on the sidewalk. Inside the vehicle were two adult male passengers and one adult male driver. An 18-year-old passenger was ejected from the vehicle during the crash and passed away on scene. The other two occupants were transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
East Pinewood Drive and South Wheatlands Parkway were closed for several hours over night while Aurora police's Traffic Investigation Unit conducted an investigation on scene.
The Arapahoe County Coroner's Office will identify the deceased individual.
This marks the 63rd traffic-related death in Aurora this year.
