Woman Dies in Vehicle vs. Pedestrian Crash on E. Colfax and N. Ursula
(Sept. 23, 2023) – The Aurora Police Department Traffic Investigation Unit is investigating a fatal vehicle versus pedestrian crash that occurred early Saturday morning.
About 3:45 a.m. Saturday, Aurora police officers responded to a report of a deceased person in the roadway near the intersection of E. Colfax Ave. and Ursula Street.
Evidence collected showed a woman, 42, was crossing mid-block in the eastbound lanes of Colfax just west of the pedestrian bridge when she was struck by an SUV. The vehicle is believed to be a silver Ford Explorer. The suspect vehicle fled the scene and has not yet been located.
The eastbound lane of Colfax was closed from Ursula to after the crash site for several hours as crews cleared the scene.
The Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office will identify the pedestrian after notification to next of kin.
The Aurora Police Department Traffic Investigation Unit will continue to investigate the incident.
The crash marks the 51st traffic-related death this year in Aurora.
