Late evening attic fire temporarily leaves family without a place to stay.
At approximately 10:30pm this evening, AFR units were dispatched to a reported fire in the 600 block of S Worchester street. Upon arrival, crews found active fire conditions in the attic spaces and proceeded to access the area to extinguish the fire. AFR crews quickly brought the fire under control and proceeded to complete searches for any occupants and hidden fire that might have spread around the residence. A primary and secondary search of the residence was completed and no human or animal victims were found. All hidden fire in the structural components and behind walls was found and extinguished.
The residence will be temporarily uninhabitable leaving 2 adults, 2 juveniles, 3 dogs and 2 cats displaced until repairs can be implemented.
Initial witness reports were that the fire started as a result of possible firework debris to the roof of the residence, however an investigation as to the cause and origin is currently under way.
