The Aurora Police Department continues to investigate the armed robbery that led to the officer-involved shooting (OIS) of Jor’Dell Richardson, and the 18th Judicial District Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) continues to investigate the OIS.
APD must publicly release additional videos of the OIS incident to comply with C.R.S. 24-31-902 adopted in 2021. The videos are viewable on APD’s YouTube page. The legal team representing Mr. Richardson’s family reviewed the videos Friday afternoon, June 23. APD was required under the same statute mentioned above to wait at least 72 hours from their viewing to release the videos publicly.

Due to the ongoing investigation of the incident and the related, ongoing armed robbery investigation that precipitated it, the department and the city of Aurora will not provide any additional updates until the investigations conclude.
