A young victim succumbed to his injuries after a fire in a townhome complex this morning. At approximately 12:30 a.m. today Aurora Fire Rescue crews were alerted to a residential structure fire at 2032 South Paris Way. Soon after arriving, firefighters performed an initial search of the building and conducted a ladder rescue of a six-year-old boy. Paramedics transported him to a local hospital where he later died.
Aurora Fire Rescue and Aurora Police Department investigators are working together on this case. The investigation is active and ongoing and is expected to last into the coming weeks. Victim advocates are providing the child's family members with support. The identity of the child will be provided by the Arapahoe County Coroner's Office consistent with their policies on releasing victim identification.
