AURORA, Colo. – Aurora Fire Rescue responded to reports of a single-family structure fire at 16160 E. Flora Pl. near E. Dartmouth Ave. and S. Laredo St. on Tuesday, March 24 after 10:30 p.m.
Four engine companies, three ladder companies, two ambulances, and two battalion chiefs responded and performed an interior fire attack.
Firefighters conducting a primary search of the home with heavy smoke conditions found one occupant and multiple pets inside.
Crew members on scene pulled the occupant from inside and provided emergency medical care. The occupant was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. Aurora Fire Rescue later received notification that the patient died in the emergency department.
No additional injuries were reported in this fire and many pets were rescued by firefighters and survived. The origin and cause of this fire are under investigation.
