Homelessness in Aurora

Resources for service organizations are at the bottom of this page.

Everyone deserves a safe, warm place to sleep. The city of Aurora is committed to preventing and ending homelessness by connecting those without shelter to resources, support, and services to help them regain stability and improve their well-being. While health and human services typically fall to county governments (Aurora sits in three counties), the Aurora City Council has designated significant resources to support programs and partnerships with communities and nonprofits to assist those experiencing homelessness and those at risk of homelessness.

Volunteer for Point-in-Time Count

Aurora’s Housing and Community Services Department is seeking volunteers for the 2025 Point-in-Time (PIT) count, an annual count of sheltered and unsheltered people experiencing homelessness on a given day. The Aurora PIT count event is scheduled from 6 to 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28, and is part of national efforts to identify the extent of homelessness in the country.

Volunteers will assist by covering a designated area of the community with a team and speaking directly with people experiencing homelessness to administer a survey to help identify needs. Training will be provided. To register, visit the city’s volunteer portal at AuroraGov.org/Volunteer.
