Gateway Domestic Violence Services operates a Court Advocacy Program within the Aurora Municipal Court. The program provides victims of domestic violence with advocacy, information on the court process and the criminal justice systems' response to domestic violence, safety planning, resources, referrals and legal options.
When a victim of domestic violence is subpoenaed to the Aurora Municipal Court, they should report to Gateway's Court Advocacy Program (CAP). Our advocates will be expecting them, and will check them in with the court. CAP staff work closely with the Aurora City Attorney's Office as well as the Aurora Police Department. Victims of a domestic violence will have an opportunity to give input regarding the criminal case; and with the victim's permission advocates will pass on the information to the City Attorney's Office and/or the Police Department. The court process can take all morning.
Gateway's Court Advocacy Program provides a safe place for victims of domestic violence.
Office opens at 8:30 a.m.
