Homeschool Days

Our Homeschool program offers a unique museum experience for non-traditional students and their parents. Every month we have a new topic of discussion with engaging activities.

Aurora History Museum's 2-hour Homeschool program is aimed at elementary through middle grade students and their parents. Each month will have a new theme with several educational opportunities for students. Work with museum professionals and educators to expand on your homeschool curriculum.

Cost: $7 per student - includes one adult - adult must be present for program.

Only paid, ticketed students will be able to participate in activities and crafts. Please sign siblings up as "non-participating" after entering the number of students. These students will not be gold panning. If your student, regardless of age, wants their own gold pan, please register them. Otherwise they are welcome to "help" big sibling.

Blind History
Monday, Oct. 7, 9:30 a.m.

What do you know about Braille? Did you know Colorado had a visually impaired governor? Join Peggy Chong, Aurora's own Blind History Lady, to learn about important people with visual impairments and the history of blindness.

The Smoky Hill Trail
Monday, Nov. 4, 9:30 a.m.

You’ve heard about the Oregon Trail, but what about the Smoky Hill Trail that ran right through this part of Colorado? Learn about the treacherous path east from which Smoky Hill Road took its name while playing a fun game reminiscent of that "other" trail.

Celebrate!
Monday, Dec. 9, 9:30 a.m.

How do you celebrate? Aurora is the most diverse city in Colorado with over 150 languages spoken. For the third time, we have invited some of our neighbors to come show us how they celebrate. In the past we have had people from Nepal, Mexico, Ethiopia and the Philippines. Join us for a morning full of celebratory fun!

Nepal
Monday, Jan. 13, 9:30 a.m.

Didn’t get enough cultural crafts and games in December? Good news! January’s theme is "Nepal" in support of our Mosaic of Cultures: Nepal exhibit. Nepali community members will lead us in fun activities and crafts and students will have the unique opportunity to play Nepalese tabletop games while learning about Nepalese history and cultures.
