SWAY INTO SUNSATIONAL SUMMERTIME
WITH AURORA DANCE ARTS!!!
We invite you all to sway into that "sunsational" time of year in the Aurora Dance Arts program, Summertime! Aurora Dance Arts is happy to share our expansive Summer Dance Program information. We know that summer is a time of travel, rest and rejuvenation, but we highly encourage our students to continue their dance training during this time as well. Training through the Summer ensures that dancers maintain and develop their dance knowledge and abilities along with learning new things! It also ensures that there are no gaps in their training. Summer is also a great time to explore the Aurora Dance Arts program and all we have to offer, especially if your child is new to the art of dance, if they might want to try a new style of dance, or get expand the number of classes that they are currently taking.
This year we will be offering an expansive schedule of weekly Summer Dance classes that run from the end of June through mid-August. All classes run in 6-7 week sessions, dependent on the teacher, day of the week and/or location. Class offerings are for both children/youth and adults.
In addition to weekly classes, we also offer a variety of half-day summer dance camps for different age groups. We have three camp offerings available for the 4-6 year-old age group. We also have a wonderful Beginning Level "Sample the Styles" Camp planned for ages 7-13. And we are also very excited to be offering the ENERGY Int/Adv Level Summer Dance Intensive. Please click the various buttons below to view all general information and schedules for our various Summer Dance opportunities, and please read through helpful hints for Summer Registration that we have provided below.
HELPFUL HINTS FOR SUMMER DANCE REGISTRATION:
REGISTRATION OPENS - MAY 1 at Noon.
To register for the Aurora Dance Arts Summer Dance classes, you need to have a city of Aurora account. Don’t have an account? It’s easy to create one on our registration website. Please visit CityOfAurora.perfectmind.com to create an account and/or register for dance classes. All summer registration is available online or by calling the Dance Office at 303.326.8308.
Most registration is based on age and/or ability level. Children must be the base age of a level by the start date of the class in order to be registered for that class. For example - if you wish for your child to take Tippy Toes, they must be 3 by the start date of the class, or if you would like them to be in the Beg Level, they must be 7 by the start date of the class, etc. If your child is not the correct age by the start date of the class, you must call the Dance Office at 303.326.8308 for eligibility.
There are several classes that require prior dance experience and/or instructor approval. If a class is starred with an asterisk * that means that registration approval is based on a student’s 2023-2024 Continuous Dance level or requires that a student be recommended for that level.
Pointe classes with Ms. Erin can only be taken in conjunction with their corresponding Ballet level. Example - Beg Pointe can only be taken in conjunction with Ballet II/III or Int/Adv Pointe can only be taken in conjunction with Ballet III/IV, etc. All pointe classes are starred with multiple asterisks on the schedule to clarify.
- Unless otherwise instructed by your child's dance teacher, all Continuous Dance Students should plan to remain in their current level for summer. Any progression to the higher levels will take place in Fall of 2024 for the 2024-2025 Continuous Dance Season. The Dance office will be in contact with all current Continuous Dance students/parents via e-mail in June/July regarding level placement for next school year.
- If there is an exception and your child is recommended to move up to a higher level in the summer as opposed to the fall, the Dance Office will contact your family directly with that information. Dancers that are also aging up, like children 6 turning 7, in May or June may also progress to the next level...they may progress from Pre/Adv Pre to the Beg level. Age progressions are only allowed without a teacher recommendation for Pre and Beg levels.
- Dancers who are currently in Pre or Beg Pointe and have received their pointe shoes during Continuous should plan to take Beg Pointe in the summer. Dancers who are currently in Int or Adv Pointe should plan to take Int/Adv Pointe for the summer.
- Please note that there are some class levels that are combined during the summer due to more limited enrollment during this season. These combined levels are mainly for the Summer ONLY! These levels will resume being divided in the 2024-2025 Continuous Dance Year. This is also noted in the level descriptions in the Summer Dance Info located in the button below.
Please consult the pricing, style and level information to guide you in choosing the right class for you or your child. If you are unsure of your child’s level or if you need to verify your child’s eligibility for enrollment in any particular class, please either call the Dance Office at 303.326.8308 or e-mail [email protected].
Class size is limited and classes tend to fill pretty quickly, especially for the younger age groups, so we do highly recommend registering as soon as possible.
You may register for all classes online or by calling the Dance Office at 303.326.8308. The only exception to this is the ENERGY Summer Dance Intensive. Registration for the intensive is available only by calling the Dance Office to inquire about eligibility and qualification.
