Homestake Reservoir

Located in southern Eagle County in the Colorado River basin, Homestake is a cooperative effort with Colorado Springs that collects water from Homestake Creek and Sopris, Missouri, Fancy and French Creeks through a series of pipes and tunnels. Water rights are jointly owned by Aurora and Colorado Springs utilities. Completed in 1967, this dam is unusual in that it has an asphalt lined facing. Homestake water is released to Turquoise Lake when needed through the Homestake Tunnel.

The reservoir is owned and operated by the Homestake Authority, a partnership between Aurora Water and Colorado Springs Utilities.
