Posted on 09/02/2023

(Sept. 2, 2023) – The Aurora Police Department’s Major Crime Homicide Unit has arrested a Denver man following a killing earlier this week at a light rail station in unincorporated Arapahoe County south of the Dam East Dam West neighborhood.

Daniel Maxine Tivet, 34, was arrested late Friday afternoon on charges of second-degree murder and robbery. The charges stem from 10:26 p.m. Wednesday, when officers responded to a report of a possible robbery at the Regional Transportation District’s Nine Mile Station, 3181 S. Parker Road.

A light rail conductor reported to their dispatch there was an unconscious man lying on the tracks. An open backpack and some personal items were also on the tracks.

The man didn’t have a pulse when medical responders arrived at the scene. First responders performed life-saving actions and were able to resuscitate the man. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he ultimately died from his injuries early Friday morning.

The man will be identified by the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office following notification of next of kin.

Evidence collected from the scene suggests the man died from injuries he sustained in a fist fight with Tivet on the light rail platform. The investigation was elevated to a homicide after the man died Friday morning.

Tivet was located Friday afternoon by Aurora police’s Motorcycle Enforcement Team behind a fast-food restaurant in the 3200 block of South Parker Road. He was taken into custody less than 12 hours after the Major Crime Homicide Unit became involved in the investigation.

The case remains under investigation. Anyone with any information is asked to contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720.913.STOP (7867).
