News Release Graphic

At approximately 11:50 Aurora Fire Rescue responded to a natural gas leak near 3300 South Cathay Street. AFR found a 3” buried gas line in the front yard that was struck by a construction crew and ruptured. In response to safety concerns, AFR evacuated two homes and deployed hose lines for possible fire suppression needs. XCEL Energy clamped the ruptured line, and one home is still without service. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and all residents were allowed to return home once the situation was under control. However, one home is still without gas service. Xcel is actively working to restore natural gas service to the last residence by the end of the day.
