News Release – Large cottonwood tree falls on home in Aurora.
A large tree fell on top of a roof in Aurora and caused significant damage.
At approximately 1748, Aurora Fire was dispatched to a report of a large cottonwood tree that fell onto a home. When crews arrived, they went inside the home to make sure everyone was out and noted serious damage to the roof and asked for Aurora Fire’s Technical Rescue Team (TRT). The TRT team shored up and stabilized the area of the roof that was damaged preventing any further collapse.
The city of Aurora Parks Recreation and Open Space (PROS) was requested, as they have large chainsaws and equipment to begin cutting and removing the tree from the home. Currently, fire crews and PROS are working on sizing up the damage and evaluating what is the best way to remove the tree off the home. Thankfully, no one was injured. No further updates expected.
