Around 4 pm this afternoon, Aurora Fire Rescue responded to a report of a structure fire. When fire trucks arrived, they found a multi-family dwelling with smoke from the front door. Initial crews met with the homeowner, who informed AFR that everyone except for a missing cat inside was out.
Fire crews quickly placed hose lines in service and completed a search for the missing cat. The search crews were able to locate the animal and bring it out of the home safely, returning the animal to its owner unharmed.
Firefighting efforts were completed quickly and efficiently, bringing the fire under control, preventing further damage to the home, and preventing it from spreading into adjacent houses. After the fire was over, the homeowner did not seek help from The Red Cross; thankfully, there were no injuries to report.
