Addition of Sixth Ladder Company
Posted on 04/19/2022

AURORA, Colo. – On Tuesday, April 19 Aurora Fire Rescue will add Ladder Company 8 to serve the city of Aurora. This will be the agency’s sixth ladder company, totaling 23 full-time apparatus operating 24/7 throughout the city. Ladder 8 will be housed at Fire Station No. 8, 250 S. Chambers Rd.

The city’s core is sensitive to Ladder response times due to high-risk areas that include the entire Fitzsimmons Campus, Town Center Mall, Interstates, Light Rail, Commuter Rail, high-value retail and light industrial, and High-Rise buildings. This resource will make an immediate impact by reducing unit move ups and adding more ALS personnel for multi-patient incidents which are commonplace in the area. During a September 2021 Budget Workshop, City Council approved funding to add this new ladder company.

Ladder Co. 8, like all engine and ladder companies in Aurora, will be staffed with 4 firefighters of which, at least one is a Firefighter/Paramedic. The apparatus contains enhanced equipment for forcible entry, search and rescue, ventilation and vehicle entrapments.

Aurora Fire Rescue provides fire suppression, emergency medical services and all-hazard response in the city of Aurora, the 54th largest municipality in the United States. Aurora Fire Rescue continues to monitor response trends in order to best serve our growing community. The department currently has 17 stations with 441 uniformed members on staff.
