Aurora Fire Rescue and the city of Aurora have approved the implementation of a Fire Inspection Fee Schedule. Historically, Aurora Fire Rescue has only charged for reinspection fees.
Primary fire inspection fees are based on occupancy type, occupant load and/or square feet. The fee schedule was developed from extensive research of the surrounding cities and jurisdictions within the Denver metro area as well as like-sized cities through the country. Primary and reinspection fees have been approved both by the Aurora Fire Rescue as well as Aurora City Council with input from the city of Aurora Business Advisory Board.
Primary inspection fees are assessed for the first inspection conducted as part of the business’s fire inspection cycle, which restarts every one, two or three years based on fire risk as determined by occupancy group. Reinspections are required when violations are identified during a primary inspection or complaint investigation. Reinspection fees are charged following any required reinspection where violations remain.
Currently, the city of Aurora has adopted the International Fire Code 2021, available online. The Aurora Municipal Code can be found online. If you have any questions or need further clarification, please contact the Aurora Fire Rescue Inspection and Investigation Division at 303.326.8999.
