Shelter Volunteers
Volunteers are critical to the work we do serving the thousands of animals that come to the Aurora Animal Shelter each year.
Together, staff and volunteers ensure that animals in our care get exercise, mental stimulation, love and companionship.
We involve volunteers in various ways, including, but not limited to, socializing with dogs or cats, implementing brain games, assisting at adoption events, and supporting staff through administrative tasks.
Volunteer Guidelines
-
The minimum age for volunteering at the Aurora Animal Shelter is 18.
-
Volunteering at the shelter is a regular commitment. Unfortunately, we do not have the capacity for individuals to be involved in a single-day or short-term volunteer stint.
-
We ask that you commit to either a weekly or biweekly shift.
-
To start volunteering, you must complete the onboarding process, which includes attending an orientation and additional training. There are no "walk-in" volunteer opportunities.
