The city of Aurora invites you to celebrate our pollinator friends at the inaugural Party for Pollinators
The city of Aurora invites you to take part in the inaugural Party for Pollinators from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, June 22, at the Aurora Water-wise Garden, 15151 E. Alameda Parkway. The Water-wise Garden is located on the Chambers side of the Aurora Municipal Center.
This first-ever event is a collaborative effort between Aurora Water and the city's Parks, Recreation and Open Space Department. The Party for Pollinators takes place during Pollinator Week, June 17 to June 23, which is designed to celebrate the vital role pollinators play in ecosystems, economies and agriculture. Attendees will be able to partake in a variety of fun activities, community projects, garden tours, learning experiences and much more. A selection of food trucks will also be on-site for visitors to enjoy. This all-ages event is free, and no registration is required.
A variety of pollinator-centric events take place throughout the year, such as informational pollinator walks and migration tagging science projects during the annual monarch migration. The majority of these events, including the Party for Pollinators are led by Aurora naturalist, David Footle.
“The more we learn about pollinators, the more we understand how some of the smallest creatures play the biggest roles in the survival of our ecosystems; small ‘bugs,’ big picture,” said David Footle.
The city of Aurora is dedicated to facilitating conservation efforts year-round to support local pollinators. Efforts include enhancing environments, creating safe migration spaces, providing educational materials about pollinators and providing resources to help community members become advocates for our often-unsung heroes. Aurora Mayor Mike Coffman has signed the Mayors’ Monarch Pledge in years past and took the pledge again in 2024.
The city of Aurora invites you to become a Pollinator Patron. Learn more about the Party for Pollinators event and others at AuroraGov.org/Pollinators.
