(July 18, 2023) – The Aurora Police Department’s Traffic Investigation Unit is investigating a fatal three-vehicle crash on Tuesday morning.
At 7:30 a.m., officers responded to a call of a car crash that involved one Kenworth dump truck and two vehicles at 11th Avenue and Piccadilly Street. Investigations revealed that a Ford F150 occupied by one adult male was headed eastbound on 11th Ave and attempted to turn north on Piccadilly Street. A Kenworth dump truck driven by an adult male was moving southbound on Piccadilly and as the Ford truck pulled on to the roadway, the two collided. As a result, the dump truck crossed into the northbound lanes and collided with a second vehicle. The dump truck driver was transported to the hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the second vehicle tragically passed away at the scene.
Due to next-of-kin notification, we are not able to give more information on the second driver at this time.
Piccadilly Street was closed in both directions for nearly four hours.
The Arapahoe County Coroner's Officer will make identifications and determine cause of death.
