The city is planning to make safety and accessibility improvements along the west side of Potomac Street, between Sixth Avenue and 14th Place.
A project is currently planned to underground a portion of the overhead electric lines, construct a 4-foot sidewalk and upgrade street lights along the west side of Potomac Street. This project is in response to resident requests for pedestrian accommodations along the west side of Potomac Street. These improvements will provide an Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) accessible route where sidewalk currently does not exist, improving the neighborhood’s transportation facilities.
The project is funded by city funds and the 1% Xcel Fund, which is Xcel Energy revenue allocated to the city as part of an electric franchise agreement to fund projects that convert overhead power lines to underground.
