The Aurora Police Department has a full time Narcotics Section, tasked with investigating
the manufacturing, distribution, sale and use of illegal drugs, prostitution, the illegal sale
of firearms, loan sharking, and racketeering.
Members of the Narcotics Section are certified to operate in the hazardous environment
found in Methamphetamine labs, which can be full of by products such as poisonous
gasses and explosive liquids.
The Narcotics Unit works closely with other agencies, including Denver Metro area
police departments, District Attorney Offices, Colorado State agencies, and Federal agencies to investigate
crimes and prosecute offenders. Since the sale of drugs is often linked to other crimes
and criminal organizations, members of the Narcotics Section also interact frequently with
other Aurora Police Department units such as the Gang Intervention Unit, the SWAT Team, ERT, and Detective units.
The Marijuana Enforcement Unit is assigned to the Narcotics Section. This unit is responsible for the investigation and enforcement of state and local laws related to the use, production and distribution of medical and recreational marijuana. They also conduct inspections on recreational marijuana retailer to make sure they are in compliance with state and local laws.
If you would like to leave a tip for the Narcotic Section you can do so by calling 303.739.1964.
