The Metro Track program tracks stolen vehicles in real-time with the vehicle's GPS system. The program requires vehicle owners to preauthorize the Aurora Police Department to access to the manufacturer's GPS service (e.g., OnStar, etc.). Using the vehicle's GPS, APD can track the vehicle in real-time to locate and return the vehicle to the owner and possibly arrest the suspect.
If the above technology is not available to a vehicle owner, and the vehicle is registered to an Aurora address, the vehicle's owner may opt to have the Aurora Police Department install a tracking device that will be paired to the vehicle owner’s phone. There is no fee for this program.
