High school students participating in mock trial
|
The Aurora Municipal Court offers court tours and host school field trips for students from the entire Denver Metro area.
Where Is The Court Located?
Aurora Municipal Court is located at 14999 East Alameda Parkway, Aurora, CO 80012.
What Happens During A Court Tour?
Tour groups will meet in the Court House Rotunda and be given a tour of the court house. During the tour, the students are able to play the roles of the court by performing a mock trial. The response to this activity is extremely positive. The mock trial has not only proven to be fun, but also has proven to be an effective learning tool for elementary and secondary school students. It helps students develop useful knowledge about the law, questioning techniques, critical thinking, and oral advocacy skills. A mock trial will also leave student participants with an appreciation of the difficulties that judges, lawyers and juries face in attempting to present all relevant facts and legal arguments and insure the just resolution of the issues involved. Field trips help reinforce classroom materials bringing lessons to life.
