Cub Scout Pack 2010's Webelos Den had a fabulous time at the Aurora Reservoir Earth Day Celebration despite the crazy wind we were having that day! We were greeted immediately by a Parks and Rec employee who told us where to go and what would be happening throughout the day. He answered all of our questions and pointed us in the right direction. We were able to join the Naturalist and a tour guide for the first nature hike of the day! The Scouts had a blast walking around the Reservoir listening to everything the Naturalist had to say. She pointed out different birds, animals and insects. She taught us all about the environment and how to keep nature the way it was intended. We even participated in a Scout Conservation Project by picking up trash by various picnic benches and the Scouts were so glad they did their part in protecting the Earth. Once our Nature Hike was over, we took our group over to the information booths and learned all about the water's environment, the trees and forests and even spun the wheel with Great Outdoors Colorado to win some cool prizes. The Scouts learned about water conservation with Aurora Water and even got to take home a very cool bird house helper from the Aurora Parks and Rec division! Some Scouts hung around and went to the Hawk Quest event, which is always a fabulous time, learning about all the different predators! The Scouts earned their Webelos Walkabout Adventure and certainly walked away from the Earth Day Celebration learning a lot! We can't wait to come back next year!!! Thank you for a fabulous time!
