Civic Engagement Academy Course Outline

Meetings take place from 6 to 8 p.m. p.m. Wednesdays from April 26 through June 11

April 16 – Academy Meet and Greet, Central Recreation Center, 18150 E. Vassar Place

• Receive your academy materials, meet the other students and participate in engagement activities 

April 23 – Aurora form of Government, Aurora Municipal Center, 15151 E. Alameda Parkway, Aurora Room (main floor)

• Speakers – Mayor Mike Coffman, City Manager Jason Batchelor, City Clerk Kadee Rodriguez and Assistant City Attorney Andrea Wood

April 30 – Budget and City Charter, Aurora Municipal Center Aspen Room, 15151 E. Alameda Parkway (second floor)

• Speakers – Budget Officer Greg Hays, Councilmember At-Large Alison Coombs

May 7 – Planning and Development, Aurora Municipal Center, Compass Café, 15151 E. Alameda Parkway (second floor)

May 14 – Aurora Water, Binney Water Purification Facility, 5060 S. Robertsdale Way. Please do not Google or use any online service for directions as it will lead you to another location. Use this map. Take Quincy Rd. east for 2.2 miles. Go one block past the entry to Aurora Reservoir. The treatment facility is on the right (south), has a large sign and a large gate.
