Teachers learn about how wildfires affect water quality during the Forests to Faucets workshop.

During Forests to Faucets Two, teachers can opt to bike around the Aurora Reservoir.

Aurora Water is now accepting applications for our summer professional development workshops, Forests to Faucets.

Whether you are an informal or formal educator, learn more about Colorado water through field trips and water professionals while enhancing your teaching toolbox with fun hands-on activities you can do with K-12 students. 

Forests to Faucets: Aurora’s water resources

A free continuing education workshop for K–12 educators.

Held each summer, this interactive workshop for teachers is all about water. You’ll learn first-hand how Aurora's water travels from deep in the mountains 150 miles away to the tap. Explore our mountain watersheds, conduct water quality studies, tour a water-wise garden and visit a drinking water treatment facility and a wastewater treatment facility.

Earn 1.5 semester hours of graduate/re-certification credit

A free continuing education class for K-12 educators.

Created as a follow-up to "Forests to Faucets: Aurora's water resources," this workshop focuses on protecting our water by learning more about conservation, water pollution prevention and climate change. Explore Aurora Reservoir and learn more about Aurora’s water history.
Earn .5 semester hours of graduate/re-certification credit.
Apply by June 19

July 22 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Teachers who complete our training can also check out these resources: 

  • Enviroscape Watershed Model — Use this interactive model to teach about watersheds and water pollution prevention.

  • Water Quality Test Kits  Test kits contain everything you need to conduct chemical and physical water quality tests with your students. Pre- and post-water quality testing lessons are also available.
