Aurora Civic Engagement Academy Course Outline

The vision of the Aurora Civic Engagement Academy is to foster positive relationships and the understanding of roles and responsibilities between Aurora citizens and their city government (elected and non-elected members). The five-session format is designed to inform citizens of the different departments and their functionality. Time will be taken to inform citizens of their rights and engage them in the responsibilities of running their city through various boards, commissions and other citizen-led opportunities.

  • Educate residents about city government and roles/responsibilities of the Mayor, City Council, City Manager and other departments and services within Aurora.
  • Engage citizens on a discussion about their role in city government.
  • Identify, train and develop citizen volunteers for boards, commissions and other community opportunities where they can serve.
