AURORA, Colo. – On Saturday, Jan. 18 Aurora Fire Rescue will add an engine company and relocate a ladder company to better serve those in southeast Aurora. The enhancements impact Aurora Fire Stations 13 and 14. These changes are part of a larger optimization plan and will create the department’s fifth double company firehouse located at Aurora Fire Station No. 13, 23911 E. Arapahoe Rd.

In a memorandum circulated to the department on Monday, Jan. 13, Fire Chief Fernando Gray Sr. outlined the plan as “...a data-based operational and cost efficiency which allows the department to add another four-person unit...

It is the goal of Aurora Fire Rescue to meet national response time benchmarks which ensures residents experience the best possible outcomes and receive timely emergency service. Based on incident modeling, relocating Ladder 14 to Station No. 13 and adding an engine company will enhance the availability of resources; therefore, reducing response times.

An open house celebration will be planned in the coming months so that neighbors can tour their station and meet the fire fighters working in their community. Aurora Fire Rescue provides fire suppression, emergency medical services and all-hazard response in the city of Aurora. The department currently has 16 stations with more than 425 uniformed members on staff.
