Chief of Aurora Fire Rescue Releases Vision and Focus for 2020

AURORA, Colo. – On the first day of the new year Fire Chief Fernando M. Gray, Sr. of Aurora Fire Rescue (AFR) congratulated all department staff members boasting of “considerable positive transitions” in recent months due to “hard work of our members and a commitment from management/elected officials.” He published a vision statement for 2020 citing the following improvements for the department:

  • Opening Fire Station 17
  • Supplementing paramedic staffing levels
  • Adding an additional company to Station 13
  • Optimizing the utilization of Medical Support Units
  • Enhancing wellness opportunities available to AFR personnel

Advocating for a progressive fire department, Gray prescribed personnel safety, bias-free workplace, and member input in decision making as the organizational pillars. “We will be a value based, full service, and all-hazards organization that constantly pushes towards being an industry leader.” Gray stated, “Community engagement and identifying solutions to assist our residents will be our focus.”
