Aurora Police, Arapahoe Coroner Seek Help Identifying Deceased Man
Posted on 04/15/2025

(April 15, 2025) – The Aurora Police Department and the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office are seeking the public’s help with information about a deceased man discovered earlier this month in north central Aurora.

On April 1, Aurora police patrol officers responded to a report of a physical altercation between multiple parties near Interstate 225 and 6th Avenue. While speaking with the parties involved in the altercation, officers were informed about human remains under the overpass crossing Toll Gate Creek near Potomac Street and Potomac Circle.

Major Crime Homicide Unit detectives responded to the location and found skeletal remains.

The Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office performed an autopsy and has determined the remains are from an African American man in his 30s, standing approximately 5 feet, 5 inches tall and weighing approximately 140 pounds. The man had short, curly black hair and was wearing a brown leather bomber-style jacket, a florescent green hooded sweatshirt, a grey crop topped hooded sweatshirt with decorative gromets and strings along the sides, black sweatpants, camouflage shorts and light brown shearling-type boots.

There was no identification with the remains. The investigation to date suggests the deceased might be a transient named Ben who frequented the East Colfax and I-225 corridors before his death.

Anyone with any information is asked to call the Arapahoe County Coroner's Office at 720.874.3625 or Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720.913.STOP (7867). Tipsters can remain anonymous and could be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000.
