Aurora Public Library will be offline for maintenance from Tuesday, April 29 to Monday, May 12 to move to a new and improved software system for checkouts, holds, creating library cards and more. You may experience glitches, and we appreciate your patience during the transition.

What to Expect

The maintenance will impact library services. Here is what it means for your library experience:

• You are still able to visit their local library. Self-checkout will not be available during this time. Please proceed to the front desk to check out your item.

• Yourself and library staff will not be able to place holds, create library cards, edit your information, etc.

• You are able to checkout items offline during this time as long as you have an active library card. However, you won’t be able to see it in your account right away.

• You will not receive reminders about your items currently checked out.

• Items checked out before the offline period will not be due for return until Tuesday, May 27.

• You are able to access the catalog and databases such as Libby and Kanopy. However, the catalog will be in read only mode so you cannot place holds, change their information, pay fines, etc. You will not lose your reading history.

If items are due during the offline period, then please hold onto them until the system is live Tuesday, May 13.

Other Impacted Services

• Prospector will not be available starting April 25.

APL On the Go mobile app will have the same limitations.

Reminders about your items will go live a few days after Tuesday, May 13.

The catalog will go out of read-only mode a few days after Tuesday, May 13.

Donations are encouraged to go to the Friends of the Aurora Public Library, located at 2243 S. Peoria St.

Changes with the New System

There are a few things to keep in mind once we are live in the new system, including:

•  Requiring to re-login to our databases, the catalog and Libby, due to the migration to our new system.

•  Having a PIN, which will be the last four digits of your phone number. You will be able to change your PIN and this PIN will also be used to log into Libby.

•  Library cards expiring after five years to maintain accurate data in the system. You can renew your library card at your local library once your library card is close to expiring in five years.

Those using Prospector will see a further delay in their requests after May 13.
