Posted on 04/13/2025

April 13, 2025 – Aurora Police Department investigators have made an arrest following a shooting that seriously injured a man and left a woman and child with minor injuries.

On April 12, 2025, at approximately 7:22 p.m., a man and woman flagged down medical personnel near E. Alameda Parkway and S. Chambers Road after both were shot while traveling in a vehicle with three children.

Investigators learned the victims had traveled to Aurora to meet individuals for a suspected transaction. When the suspects took the items without paying and fled, the victims began following them. While traveling southbound on Airport Boulevard near E. Colfax Avenue, someone in the suspect vehicle opened fire, striking the man and woman.

The man sustained serious injuries, and the woman sustained minor injuries. Both were transported to a local hospital. A 12-year-old girl in the back seat suffered a superficial graze wound, and all three children were transported to the hospital as a precaution.

Later that evening, officers located the suspect vehicle, a GMC Acadia, at a home in the 1000 block of N. Jasper Street. Surveillance was conducted by all three of APD’s Direct-Action Response Teams (DART). After observing the vehicle leave the residence, officers conducted a traffic stop near S. Peoria Street and E. Mississippi Avenue and took the driver into custody without incident.

The suspect, 18-year-old Christopher Campos-Anguiano, was transported to APD Headquarters, interviewed by detectives, and then booked into the Aurora Detention Center for five counts of Attempted Second-Degree Murder.

Formal charges will be filed by the 18th Judicial District Attorney’s Office.

This case remains under active investigation as detectives work to determine whether additional individuals involved in the incident will be arrested.

The Aurora Police Department commends the diligent work of our Patrol Officers, Detectives, and all three District DART units, whose collaboration and quick action led to a fast and safe arrest.
