Aurora Police Department Arrests 2 in Feb. 8 Nonfatal Shooting Investigation

(Feb. 25, 2025) – The Aurora Police Department Gun Violence Suppression Team announced Tuesday it has arrested two suspects wanted in connection with a nonfatal shooting earlier this month in a parking lot in west Aurora.
One of the two suspects, Jayden Martin, 18, of Aurora, was arrested late Thursday afternoon by Aurora police’s fugitive unit. He is charged in Arapahoe District Court with eight counts of attempted first-degree murder and two counts of first-degree assault, both felonies. Martin is in custody on $1 million bond.
The second suspect, a 16-year-old Aurora teenager, was arrested last Tuesday, Feb. 18. He also is charged in Arapahoe District Court with eight counts of attempted first-degree murder and two counts of first-degree assault, as well as one count each of unlawful possession of a handgun by a juvenile and unlawful possession of a weapon by a previous offender, all felonies. The second suspect, who is not being identified because he is a minor, is in custody on $300,000 bond.
The charges stem from about 5:15 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, when Aurora police patrol officers responded to a report of a shooting in a skating rink parking lot in the 15100 block of East Girard Avenue. When officers arrived at the scene, they located a teenage girl suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Officers performed lifesaving actions on the victim until medical responders arrived at the scene. The girl was taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
During the preliminary investigation, officers learned about a second victim, a teenage boy, who was driven to a local hospital with serious injuries prior to the arrival of first responders. Both victims were treated and have since been released from the hospital.
Officers located several shell casings of different calibers at the scene. To date, investigators have recovered two firearms believed to be used in the shooting.
The investigation is active and ongoing. Anyone with any information is asked to contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720.913.STOP (7867). Tipsters can remain anonymous and could be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000.
