(Nov. 13, 2024) – The Aurora Police Department is seeking the public’s help with information about a fatal shooting that occurred in October in northwest Aurora.
About 2:45 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, a resident of the area of East 19th Avenue and Kingston Street called Aurora911 to report they returned home to find a man lying in the street with an apparent gunshot wound. Officers and medical responders arrived at the scene, and the man was taken to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
The victim has since been identified by the Adams County Coroner’s Office as 26-year-old Aurora resident Mario Arturo Lopez-Alvarado. There is no suspect information and no arrests have been made.
Homicide detectives are interested in speaking with anyone familiar with Lopez-Alvarado and who might have information about his activities in the days leading up to the shooting. Detectives are also asking residents around East 19th Avenue and Kingston Street to review their surveillance camera footage from Oct. 12 and to contact the Aurora Police Department if they have any video of the shooting or any other suspicious activity.

Aurora Police Major Crime Unit Investigating Homicide on Kingston Street
(Oct. 14, 2024) – The Aurora Police Department Major Crime Homicide Unit is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred over the weekend in northwest Aurora.
About 2:45 p.m. Saturday, a resident of the area of East 19th Avenue and Kingston Street called Aurora911 to report they returned home to find a man lying in the street with an apparent gunshot wound. Officers and medical responders arrived at the scene, and the man was taken to a local hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound.
The man, whose identity is not yet known, died after arriving at the hospital. He will be identified by the Adams County Coroner’s Office.
There is no suspect information at this time and no arrests have been made.
The investigation is active and ongoing. Anyone with any information is asked to contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720.913.STOP (7867). Tipsters can remain anonymous and could be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000.
