This Earth Day, let’s come together to enhance the beauty of our community, protect the environment and promote sustainable practices for a greener future! There are several opportunities to do your part.
Earth Day Clean-up Event
Keep Colorado colorful by cleaning up natural open space areas at the upcoming Earth Day Clean-up event at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 20, at Centre Hills Park, 16300 E. Centretech Parkway. All supplies provided. To register, visit AuroraGov.org/OSNRvolunteers. For questions about the clean-up and to register volunteers ages 15 and younger, email Fendi Despres at [email protected].
Free mulch
The city is offering free mulch on select Saturdays (April 20, May 18, June 15, July 20 and Aug. 17). Bring your pick-up truck or open trailer; we'll fill it with mulch! Bring your shovels, pitchforks and containers to serve yourself.
Mulch will be available from 7 a.m. to noon while supplies last at the intersection of East Hampden Avenue and South Dawson Street. Enter via South Dawson Street and follow the signs. Visit AuroraGov.org/Trees for more information and a map of the site.
Electronics Recycling
Electronics are banned from landfills in Colorado. To help Aurorans recycle their electronics and do so responsibly, the city is hosting a series of e-cycle events through Techno Rescue, a local veteran-owned IT company June 17 to 21 and June 24 to 28 (8 a.m. to 4 p.m.) and June 22 (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.).
Techno Rescue can recycle most items with a cord or a battery, including desktops, laptops, cell phones, tablets, gaming equipment, consumer electronics and more. All data storage media are wiped and physically destroyed to protect your identity. For a list of non-acceptable items and more information, visit AuroraGov.org/Recycle.
Free paint recycling event
Through the free PaintCare program, unused paint can be returned to many of the locations where it was purchased. Visit PaintCare for a complete list of locations and items accepted. Contact the store directly to confirm business hours.
