(Nov. 12, 2022) – The Aurora Police Department Major Crime Homicide Unit is asking for the public’s help with information about a homicide that occurred last year in central Aurora.
Just after 3 a.m. on Nov. 12, 2022, patrol officers responded to a report of a shooting at an apartment complex in the 900 block of South Crystal Way. When officers arrived at the scene, they found a man lying on the sidewalk with an apparent gunshot wound. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim was later identified as 41-year-old Jared Chavez, who was a resident of the apartment complex. The preliminary investigation revealed the shooting stemmed from an argument between Chavez and an unknown suspect.
Detectives have exhausted all leads in the investigation and are asking for the public’s help with information to solve the case. Tipsters could be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000.
