Aurora Police Department Investigating Homicide, Suicide
Posted on 10/19/2023

(Oct. 19, 2023) – The Aurora Police Department Major Crime Homicide Unit is investigating a homicide-suicide in the Tollgate Overlook neighborhood.

About 11:15 p.m. Wednesday, Aurora patrol officers responded to a report of a missing person at an apartment complex in the 18300 block of East Kepner Place. The caller told police his mother was scheduled to arrive at 7 a.m. for a housekeeping job. She failed to show up to other appointments she had later in the day.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found the missing woman’s car was still parked at the apartment complex. The caller provided officers with the apartment number of the housekeeping job. Officers then attempted to contact the resident inside without success.

Officers ultimately decided to enter the apartment, at which time they heard a single gunshot. Officers performed a safety check inside and located a 30-year-old Aurora man deceased with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Officers also located dismembered remains of what appeared to be an adult woman. Additional remains were discovered outside in a nearby dumpster.

Evidence was collected from the scene and taken to the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office. The names of the deceased will be released by the coroner’s office after scientific confirmation of their identities.

The investigation is active and ongoing. Anyone with any information is asked to contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720.913.STOP (7867).
