Denver Man Dies Following Vehicle vs. Pedestrian Crash on Colfax in Aurora
Posted on 09/22/2023

(Sept. 22, 2023) – A Denver man has died from injuries sustained earlier this week in a vehicle versus pedestrian crash on Colfax Avenue in North Aurora.

About 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aurora police officers responded to a report of a crash near the intersection of East Colfax Avenue and Alton Street. A 34-year-old man was crossing from the southside of Colfax to the northside when he was struck by a 2023 Hyundai Tucson driven by a 73-year-old Texas man.

The pedestrian was taken to a nearby hospital, where he died Wednesday afternoon from injuries he sustained in the crash. The Adams County Coroner’s Office will identify the pedestrian after notification to next of kin.

The Aurora Police Department Traffic Investigation Unit responded to investigate the crash. Surveillance video footage from the area showed the pedestrian was not in the crosswalk and didn’t have the right-of-way when he was struck.

The driver of the Hyundai remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Investigators don’t suspect speed or intoxication were contributing factors to the crash.

The crash marks the 50th traffic-related death this year in Aurora.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720.913.STOP (7867).
