Officers responded at 10:35 a.m. Saturday, to a report of a crash at the intersection of East Iliff Avenue and South Quintero Street. The investigation revealed a man riding a motorcycle was westbound on Iliff when it struck a Honda SUV traveling southbound on Quintero.

The driver of the Honda, a man, was evaluated on scene but was uninjured. The motorcycle rider also taken to a local hospital where he died Saturday afternoon from injuries he sustained in the crash. The man will be identified by the Arapahoe County Coroner's Office.

Preliminary information from APD's Traffic Investigators show that the motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed and disregarded the red light at the intersection, colliding with the Honda. A final speed determination is pending scientific reconstruction of the crash.

The crash marks the 47th traffic-related death this year in Aurora.

The crash remains under investigation. Anyone with any information is asked to contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720.913.STOP (7867).
