(Sept. 15, 2023) – The Aurora Police Department has arrested an Arapahoe County man following reckless driving incidents involving children earlier this week near Aqua Vista Park.
Owen Riley Severson, 18, was arrested Thursday night on misdemeanor charges of child abuse, menacing, reckless endangerment and reckless driving. The charges stem from Tuesday morning when Aurora police received multiple reports of a gold Honda Pilot driving recklessly and nearly striking numerous children near Aqua Vista Park in the Prides Crossing neighborhood.
Severson was identified and contacted Wednesday afternoon following an investigation by Aurora police detectives, Police Area Representatives and members of the patrol division. Officers also impounded the Honda Pilot for processing after Severson made statements to police about the accelerator sticking.
Officers returned to Severson’s home Thursday in unincorporated Arapahoe County and placed him under arrest. He was booked into the Aurora Jail where he remained Friday afternoon awaiting his first appearance in court.
