(August 19, 2023) – The Aurora Police Department Major Crime Homicide Unit is investigating a double homicide after two shooting victims were discovered in an alley in North Aurora.
Aurora Fire Rescue firefighters responded to the initial call of an unresponsive man in an alley between Fulton and Galena streets, just north of East 22nd Avenue. When firefighters arrived at the scene, they observed obvious signs of trauma and determined the man was dead on arrival.
Officers responded at 6:55 a.m. to investigate and located a second man a short distance away from the initial scene. That person also had obvious signs of trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Crime Scene Investigators and Major Crime Homicide Unit detectives arrived with the Adams County Coroner. Investigators determined the two men, both African Americans in their 20s, had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
Evidence collected suggests the two men were shot to death overnight and their bodies dumped in the alley. Investigators think the shots fired incident wasn’t reported to 911.
The victims have not yet been identified and there are no suspects at this time. However, evidence suggests the suspect or suspects and the victims knew each other. There is no threat to the public.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720.913.STOP (7867).
