At approximately 1436 Aurora Fire responded to a structure fire in the neighborhood near Iliff and Buckley. First arriving units arrived within five minutes to find fire and smoke coming from from a 3rd story apartment building. The initial caller was a passerby that called 911 when they noticed fire coming from the unit. It was unknown per the caller if anyone was inside.
Crews worked quickly to stretch handlines inside and contain the fire to the kitchen area of the home. Initial searches of the found no trapped parties or animals. Once the fire was brought under control, crews completed another search and found a cat, and two turtles. All animals were fine, and brought out of the house, and given to the homeowner.
The fire is still under investigation. Nothing else to report.
